Russia Jewellery Smuggling on the rise...

Association of Guild of jewellers of Russia expresses concern over growth of jewelry smuggling in Russia


Association of Guild of jewellers of Russia being the member of the Chamber of commerce and Industry and СIВJO has called on to bring discipline at Russian jewelry market.

In opinion of jewelry community, the level of smuggling has grown significantly during the latest several years, which results in economic loss (due to tax base reduction) to the government and one of the landmark industries of Russia, Guild of jewellers of Russia told Rough&Polished.


Smuggles goods delivered to Russia are usually made of low-carat gold containing inclusions unknown and even detrimental to health and jewelry embeddings of questionable quality.

Formation of consumer confidence to the quality of precious metals and authenticity of jewelry embeddings is considered a the main success of the jewelry industry. In connection with this Association of Guild of jewellers of Russia undertakes necessary measures and supports actions by governmental and law enforcement bodies aimed at strengthening consumer confidence.
